Senior Grand Deacon’s Biography

David G. N. Stonhill

My family’s journey to the United States began when my parents emigrated from England to Canada in 1963, and then from Canada to Pennsylvania in 1965. I was born in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, moving several times within the Northeast before moving to Arco, Idaho in 1978 where my father worked at the Naval Reactors Facility at Idaho National Laboratory.

I graduated from Butte County High School in 1984 and enlisted in the United States Navy when I was 17 serving aboard the USS John Rodgers DD-983. I made two deployments to the Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Black Sea along with countless small cruises in the Caribbean, North Atlantic, and East Coast.

After completing my military service in 1989, I began what would become an extensive career in security and emergency services operations and technical project management at the Idaho National Laboratory. During that time I received a BS in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, an MS in Homeland Security and Emergency Management and Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from Idaho State University. I met and married my wife Partrice in 1992 and we have eight children together – four boys and four girls ranging in age from 31 to 12.

I joined Eagle Rock Lodge #19 in 2006 where I received my full masters certificate. I served two years as the President of the Upper Snake River Shrine Club and eight years as the Bonneville Chapter Order of DeMolay DAD and am the recipient of the DeMolay Honorary Legion of Honor (HLOH).

In 2020 I became a plural member of Grove City Lodge and was elected Junior Warden and subsequently Master the following year. I am a member of Challis Lodge and a consistent visitor to Mt. McCaleb Lodge. I am also a member of the Pocatello Valley Scottish Rite and El Korah Shrine. I was appointed as Grand Sword Bearer in 2021 by Most Worshipful Past Grand Master Brother Russ W. Smith. I am currently serving as the Senior Grand Deacon.
