Randy L. Berg

I came into this world at the Valley County Hospital in Cascade, Idaho, in February of 1963 into a family that eventually reached 12 Kids, a compilation if his, hers, and ours. As a family we moved a lot as my father was in Mineral Exploration and we followed him as he moved from one contract to another. Usually not staying in on place more a few weeks to three months. This made making friends a little difficult so we relied on the companionship of our siblings over having friends. By the time I was starting my freshman year I had lived in 27 states, Canada, and Mexico. My parents bought a small farm in Middleton, Idaho, and the family settled down with my father working away from home from then on, and I was able to finish school in one spot.
That stopping and staying in one spot also allowed my younger brother and myself to join DeMolay which turned our lives around and we started enjoying relationships outside of my immediate family. My father was not a Mason but after seeing what DeMolay had done for me, he always encouraged me to join the Masons whenever I settled down and stayed in one place. I had followed my father into the Exploration business and travelled extensively myself, but in 1993 I stopped that line of employment and moved to McCall, Idaho, and started a Well Drilling business and by July of 1994 I was Initiated into Payette Lakes Lodge 91 AF&AM. I was finally Raised a Master Mason in December of 1994 and went through the chairs to finally serve as Master in 2003. Shortly after the Payette Lakes Lodge closed and merged with Ionic 82 in Cascade where I hold a life Membership and still is my home Lodge. I have since affiliated with Mount Idaho Lodge #9 where I served as Master from 2019 to the end of 2025. I recently also affiliated with Kamiah Lodge #56 where I am currently the Chaplin.
I served a short term with the Idaho DeMolay Under Jack Christianson trying to start a Chapter in the McCall area without much success. I have Sat as Associate Guardian for Chapter 25 Jobs Daughters in McCall, then later Chapter 20 in Lewiston as two of my daughters became Jobbies. I served 2 years as District Deputy Grand Master for District 8 in Idaho Grand Lodge from 09/2021 – 09/2023. That instilled me to finish up and get my Full boat Masters Certificate 10/2023. I also serve the Grand Lodge of Idaho on the Prepaid Life Committee for 3 years.
I am also a member of Lewiston Chapter #4 Royal Arch Masons, Clearwater Council #10 Cryptic Masons, and Lewiston Commandery #2 Knights Templar.
Besides my Masonry I am a father of seven children and the Grandfather to 21 grandkids. I have aspirations of getting as many of my grandkids involved into the Masonic family wherever possible. My second to the youngest daughter has already serve as Queen of Daughters of the Nile in Lewiston, Idaho, where she was a member alongside her mother, and my aunt. So, you see the Masonic organization means a great deal to me.
