District Deputy Grand Master’s Biography

Charles K. Ford – District 9

Charlie Ford, a 50-year Mason, began his Masonic journey when he, in Junior High, joined Coeur d’Alene DeMolay Chapter. In his senior year of High School, he wanted to continue his Masonic experience and asked his DeMolay Dad Advisor for a petition to join Masonry. He was initiated that winter and later raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason the following summer by MWGM Wayne S. Miller, the sitting Grand Master and a member of Kootenai Lodge #24. After his graduation, commissioning as a Regular Army Second Lieutenant and his initial military training, he arrived at his first duty assignment, Fort Huachuca, Arizona. In Arizona, he served as a DeMolay Advisor, joined Sierra Vista York Rite Bodies, and National Sojourners. Whenever he traveled for work or pleasure, he would check the local phonebook, (before the age of Internet and smart phones) for the Lodge’s Temple address. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after about 24 ½ years of service.

He has visited Masonic Lodges in several different countries and over 20 states/provinces. He was a Charter Advisor of the Treasure Valley DeMolay Chapter, a Past Dean of Idaho LOH Priory, Life Member of Spokane National Sojourners Chapter, twice Past Master of Kootenai Lodge and Life Member / KCCH of Coeur d’Alene Scottish Rite Valley. For the Grand Lodge of Idaho A. F. & A. M. he previously served as a Grand Historian and is now serving his fourth term as DDGM for Idaho Ninth Masonic District. He also serves on the Temple Preservation committee, as a Trustee of Grand Lodge Relief Fund, and a Director of the Idaho Scottish Rite Foundation. He had to come out of retirement when his Father passed away in 2022 to manage the family business.

He is active in Methodist Church, Kootenai County Office of Emergency, Orchard Ridge Senior Community, VFW Post #63, Kootenai Amateur Radio Society, and Past President for his Coeur d’Alene North Condominium Homeowner Association. His hobbies include traveling, whitewater rafting, hiking and following Vandal Athletics.
