District Deputy Grand Master’s Biography

John E. Warner – District 2 

John E. Warner was born on May 11, 1951, in Hawley, Pennsylvania, the son of Carl F. and Jannette B. (Arthur) Warner. I grew up in the Hawley area graduating from Wallenpaupack Area High School in 1969. Shortly thereafter I joined the United States Navy where I served for 5 years and then transferred to the United States Army. My overseas assignments included Japan, Alaska and Germany. During my Navy tour I served on the USS Franklin Roosevelt CVA 42 and the USS Blandy DD943. I retired from the Army on February 29, 1992. While stationed in California at the Defense Language Institute where I studied the Albanian language I met and married Renee E. Masters on March 31, 1971. While in the Army I attended college in the evening receiving an associate degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Troy State University in Troy Alabama. During this time, we were fortunate to be blessed with three sons, Jonathan, Abraham and William.

I moved to Idaho in 1992 after retiring from the Army because my Mother-in-law had cancer and needed someone to help her. During that time, I became employed by the State of Idaho Department of Corrections where I worked s as a Felony Probation Officer in the Pocatello Office. During this time, I supervised various types of felons in the area to ensure the safety and protection of the Pocatello community. While working in Pocatello I have completed a Master of Public Administration Degree and all but my dissertation for my Doctorate Degree in Political Science at Idaho State University. After graduation I became an adjunct Professor at Idaho State University until I retired in May 2019.

I joined the Masonic Fraternity in 1983. Masonically, I was initiated, passed and raised in Freidrich Wilhelm Von Steubon Lodge 837 in Bad Kreuznich, Germany in 1983. I served as Worshipful Master in 1985 and joined the Scottish Rite NATO Bodies in 1986. After moving to Pocatello, I joined Portneuf Lodge where I served as Worshipful Master several times. I affiliated with the Pocatello Scottish Rite Bodies in 1994. I have served as Chapter Dad for Charles F. Kirschner Chapter of Demolay and served on their advisory council since 1995. In 1996 I was awarded the DeMolay Cross of Honor and was honored to be inducted into the DeMolay Legion of Honor in 2015. I have served the Pocatello Valley as Venerable Master, Wise Master, Master of Kadosh and Commander of the Consistory I was elected into the Knights Commander Court of Honor in 1999 and was Coroneted 33° degree in 2003. I presently am serving as the Valley Secretary after being appointed by PGM Joseph Alexander, Sovereign Grand Inspector General of Idaho, Scottish Rite Southern Jurisdiction.

In 2016-17 I served as Rainbow Dad for Magic Valley Rainbow for Girls in Twin Falls and currently I am the Associate Guardian for Bethel 1 Jobs daughters in Pocatello. I am also serving as the Grand Junior Custodian for Idaho Grand Bethel Idaho Job’s daughters international.

I served as High Priest Idaho Falls Chapter 10 Royal Arch Masons, Illustrious Master Jerimiah 9, Idaho Falls Idaho and Commander of Idaho Falls, Most Excellent Grand High Priest royal Arch Masons of Idaho, Right Imminent Deputy Commander Grand Council Cryptic Masons of Idaho and Grand Captain General Grand commandery of Idaho. I am a commissioned commandry chaplain and a member of the Knight Commander of the temple.

I am a member of Redemption Temple XL Holy Royal Arch Knight \Templar Priest. I had the Knight York Grand Cross of Honor conferred on me. I am a member of the Tri-Valley York Rite College, St, Charles Red Cross of Constantine, Sword of Bunker Hill and Societas Rosicrutiana In Cibitatibus Foederatis.

I was appointed by PGM Richard C. Broemeling to serve as District Deputy Grand Master for the 3rd Masonic District in 2003-2004 and reappointed by PGM Harry C. Black in 2004-2005. I was appointed by PGM James C. Herndon to serve as Grand Pursuivant in 2005. And served as the Grand Master of Masons in Idaho in 2015-2016.

I retired in January 2019 and now spend some time relaxing, painting and play music on several instruments.
